last night I dreamt I was falling

spinning beside me,
you covered my hand like a glove, torn at the seams.
and held me close like a muse of an autumn tree,
that sees the sun the last time in 100 days.

Last night I dreamt I was lost in a starless night,
there was no light to be seen and dark all around me,
there you lit up as a candle, softly whipping flaming low.

you painted my face with a warm shade of amber.
even though it pained you to give it away, now I  know
that I knew not a fake thing about you, as you slowly dissolved to light my world.

Last night I dreamt that we would meet in a timeless place & when I see you face to face…
I’ll tell you how you warmed my hands,
as they stretched strings you weaved through a muscle in my chest,
that you tugged at like a harp with your warm breeze.

With harpoon in hand, you lanced me until  I was  callus in strength
But I’ll tell you how you filled me to the brim with love.
it’s not because of your soft flame or your gentle embrace,
but how you were torn at the seams and still kept me warm, like a winter jacket.

love, you took me like a picture, away from all my woes,
to this dream where I dreamt I was gently falling.
